Drawing with pigment…
… or painting without paint! I usually work with soft pastel. It’s a dry medium I can draw with to produce artwork that has the appearance of a painting. My favorites are made by Sennelier. They make 525 colors and produce the most luscious darks available.
My work horse is made by a relatively new company located in New York. The Mount Vision Pastel Company makes 275 colors in a very substantial size. The consistency of the sticks remains true throughout the color line, and they glide across paper like silk. I really like these pastels.
With no two pastel companies manufacturing the same product, it’s easy for your collection to grow- quite rapidly. So where do I keep them all? I have the best pastel box on the east coast.
