Sketchbook: Popcorn Cart
It’s Friday, and the images for the Weekend Drawing Event have been posted! This week’s photos were taken at Heritage Park in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The popcorn cart took about 3 hours to complete. The cart is red, with a red & white striped awning. In the original photo, it’s parked in front of a red & white striped building. It’s screaming to be done in color, but I’ll be leaving that for another day.
My workshop candies are currently in the studio being updated. I’ll post the next installment as soon as it’s finished, but for now, there’s another image in the WDE that I want to get done first.
I really enjoy participating in the WDEs. My drawings are improving, and I get to see places I’ll probably never be able to visit.

I love this popcorn cart, what an excellent sketch! It sounds like it would be quite fun to do in colour, any excuse to use red…
Was this one done with a mechanical pencil?
Your licorice are looking fantastic as well. I agree that it’s unfortunate that they don’t taste as good as they look.
Thank you Rita. Yes, it’s mostly mechanical pencil, with a little 6B and 9B for the darkest parts. I’ll get to use all my reds on this when I do it in pastel!
I’m sooo relieved to hear that someone else isn’t a licorice fan. I was beginning to think I was the only one!
