Bad Poetry: Ode to Spring

Oh! The flowers!
Oh! The trees!
Oh, these stinkin’ allergies!
Are there any remedies?
Try Benedryl or Claratin-D.

Yellow blossoms bloom so bright,
Glowing gold in warm sunlight,
Is it they that cause my plight?
Forsythia and daffodils!
To the store to buy more pills.

What’s that scent upon the air?
A peach and cherry blossom fare?
Oh look, another Bradford Pear!
It’s such a warm and sunny day,
I think I’ll try some nasal spray.

Oh! The pollen!
Ooohhhh, my head!
How about some Sudafed?
Never mind, a tissue please.
I feel an urgent need to sneeze!

The white flowering tree belongs to my neighbor, and is the largest, most beautiful Bradford Pear I’ve ever seen.

The little peach tree with the pink blossoms lives in our backyard. We have daffodils all over, and these live with some azaleas in the front yard. It’s been three years since the basement was waterproofed, and the yard is finally starting to look pretty again. Yay!

We’re still busy moving the last of the azaleas, hydrangeas, and iris, but at least we don’t have to buy any of it. We also have rose bushes that the previous owner planted in shady areas, and we’ll be moving those this year, too.

Gardening Tip: Wasp & Hornet spray can be used to kill tent worms. It’s the most thorough remedy I’ve used for eliminating this outdoor pest.
