Saturday Stuff

I was up and about doing some household chores this morning, and then headed off to the weekend drawing event at WetCanvas.

As usual, there was more than one photo that got my attention, and I started with the strange, tropical pink flower. I don’t have any pink ink, so I decided to try it in colored pencil, and put it in the Raffine sketchbook.

The original took about an hour and a half, and I’ve decided I don’t like colored pencil on raffine paper. Too much texture! Since I wasn’t happy with it anyway, I decided to see if ink could be applied over the colored pencil.

Here are the before and after images. You can click on the thumbnails to see a larger version.

Colored pencil on raffine paper Ink over colored pencil

The ink went over the colored pencil beautifully and didn’t absorb into the paper because of the waxy base. Finally, something I like for the raffine paper!

It’s great with india ink, but I was beginning to think watercolors were going to be my only option for getting color into this sketchbook. I’m tickled pink to have made this happy little discovery. Now all I need is the pink pen.

These won’t get posted to WC! until all my drawings have been completed. It’s just easier for me to post everything all at the same time.

That’s a really cool effect! Hope we get to see more of it.

I have the set of 24 Pitt pens and I love them. Like pastels, there never seem to be enough colors, but they’re really fun anyway.

A “happy accident” for sure! I was expecting it to bead up or run off the waxy pencil, but it stayed where I put it.

I wish they sold a portrait set of 6. My figures look like they have hepatitis. ;)
