Off Topic: The Environment
My cousin is working on her doctorate, and is in need of participants in a research study about the environment. The questionnaire is on-line, and does involve some serious thought.
Several questions allow participants to communicate their thoughts in paragraph form. It’s not a typical questionnaire, but I enjoyed having the ability to express my personal thoughts on the issue, and not be limited to yes or no answers. Her request appears below:
Hi there,
I wonder if you have time to help me with a project. As part of my work at Drew University, I’ve been working with a research company to design a questionnaire that attempts to track the connection (or disconnection) between peoples’ attitudes toward the environment and their everyday activities. The data will be meaningful only if enough people fill out the questionnaire, but so far I’m having a terrible time finding people willing to devote the 20-25 minutes it takes to answer the questions. So I’m writing to you to see if you might be willing to go on-line and answer a few questions for me. The survey can be accessed by clicking on the below link.
If you find the questionnaire worthwhile, please share the link with others: by putting it on your blog, e-mailing it to friends, mentioning it to co-workers, or doing anything else you find appropriate.
I’m interested in everyone’s opinion–from those who think the ecological crisis is the most important issue of our day to those who think it’s nothing more than sensationalist media hype to those who haven’t spent much time thinking about the issue at all.

I think I spent 30-35 minutes answering the questions, but it was early, and my thinker hadn’t had much time to wake up. So, if you don’t mind my solicitation, please go fill out the questionnaire.
If you find it useful, post the link on your own blogs, or email it to anyone else you think might be interested.
Thank you for your time. -Lisa B.

Hi Lisa B.,
A belated thank you for stopping by my Diary of a Studio blog. In fact, I’ve been in the studio for the past year but thought it might be a good idea to tell the story of building the thing. It’s a chore of sorts but am coming out to the better parts of it now.
Great that you’ve posted this questionnaire for your cousin. The environment is not really off topic because hey, where would we be without it?
I’ll set aside some time to review it and respond to it later.
Your basement looks pretty good for your studio. I hope it’s good to work down there. Am looking forward to perusing your art work.
Stay in touch and I’ll do the same. Cheers!
I’m tickled you’re already working in your studio, but am enjoying watching it’s progress. Nice job on the floor!
We bought a house that suffered 40 years of neglect, and I sympathize with the construction work. It never seems to end!
